So my nephew and I made snowflakes the other day and hung them from the ceiling inside. He’s two and such a sweetie… When we were done, he was twirling underneath them with his hands up in the air. The fan from the fire was making the snowflakes move… “Tia,” he says to me…. “The snowflakes are dancing!!”
Oh the beauty of two!! Dancing snowflakes inside…. is a good thing!!
Okay, so here we go!! I haven’t yet posted in the new year, for many reasons. One is that I am just now getting back into the swing of things. We are having a heat wave up here in Seattle, it is about 38 degrees today and the snow has turned to rain, finally!!
Snow is a beautiful thing, yes! However, it is an interesting thing when you add a bunch of hills and not much snow equipment to clear the roads… to the picture! The greater Seattle area has been only functioning at half-speed for the past few weeks.
So, enough excuses!! I think I am back and in the next few days I have a few things to post that are exciting to me about this new year!!
Thank you for visiting and I hope to hear from you all randomly, or purposefully will do to!
I’ve been a bit out of touch since the 20th of December. My sister, nephew and I were a few of the thousands that were re-routed as a result of the Denver airport closing!! We are finally in Colorado and it snowed again yesterday… I am just glad we are here this time!!
Okay, so I wasn’t away long, but I did get a good start back in my journal, which feels great!! Many times, I just need to process it all on paper and then that helps me re-group!!
So, Seattle has had a bit of weather these days. A few weeks ago, it was flooding, and now we just had an amazing snow storm that shook up the whole area. Apparently, Seattle is not ready for regular bouts of snow. Too many hills and not enough snow-plowing equipment.
Monday we had a storm that so amazingly wiped out the regular flow of traffic… People with a normal 45 min commute or similar, got on the freeways around 4:30pm and didn’t get home until 2am. This was not an exaggeration… it happened to tons of people. Craziness… and it didn’t get any better until today when it all started melting.
My nephew and I went out and built a snowman. We used what we had around to “dress” him and he finally fell over today in the meltdown… It was great fun to play in the snow. We just stayed off the freeways and side roads.
I have to share that on Friday, my sister, nephew and I went to get a tree. We came home and decorated for Christmas with beautiful music playing and cinnamony smells to boot!! The next morning, we woke up to a winter wonderland… totally unexpected. And then… for the grand finale, she and I had already purchased tickets to the theater production of White Christmas at the 5th avenue theater for Saturday night… So we went, even though it was crazy snowing. How very fun to see that production when it really was snowing outside! It was such a great performance, by the way!! Very well done.
All that tree-finding and decorating was worth it!! It was almost as if we brought on all the snow!! (Well, I don’t really want to be responsible for all that…. but you know what I mean!)
I love Christmas-time!!

I love them! You must tell me how to make them; mine always come out looking bizarre.

Basically… just be intentional and careful where you cut. Try to think of what the cut will look like when open. I always like to make the center more dimensional than just a simple cut… and try to fill the empty spaces when it is folded… If there’s a big white space when it’s folded, carefully fold into that space and cut. Sharp scissors help too!!
Miss you, friend… next time I see you, we can make snowflakes!!!
